A Simple Guide to Choose the Right USB-C Cable for your smart phones

USB-C ports look identical, but the cables are not all the same. Using the wrong cable can mean slow charging or even safety risks( in few cases).
Here are the 3 main things to look for when picking a USB-C cable for your device.
1.Check the Charging Speed (60W vs. 100W) This is the most important difference.
For Phones (60W / 3A): Most smartphones and tablets charge perfectly fine with a standard 60W cable. These are usually thinner and more flexible.
For Laptops (100W / 5A): If you are charging a laptop (like a MacBook Pro or Dell XPS), you need a cable rated for 100W (5A).
Pro Tip: 100W cables must have a built-in E-marker chip. This chip talks to the device to ensure it is safe to push high power. At LiRui, all our 100W cables come with certified E-marker chips.
2.Durability: Plastic vs. Braided How long do you want the cable to last?
PVC / TPE (Plastic): These are soft, smooth, and easy to clean. They are great for simple, daily use.
Nylon Braided: If you travel often or have pets, choose Nylon Braided. It resists pulling and broken much better than plastic.
The Joint (SR): Look at the "neck" where the plug meets the wire. A reinforced, longer neck (Strain Relief) stops the wire from breaking internally.
3.Data Transfer Needs Are you just charging, or are you moving files?
Standard (USB 2.0): Most charging cables transfer data at 480 Mbps. This is fine for occasional photos.
High Speed (USB 3.0+): If you transfer 4K videos or large files, you need a cable labeled 5Gbps, 10Gbps, or 40Gbps. These are thicker because they have more internal wires for data.
Still not sure? At LiRui, we manufacture all types—from standard 60W phone cables to heavy-duty 240W braided cables. Contact us, and we can recommend the best specs for your market.
